Who We Are

A Life Shaped by Landscapes

Working with the land and being in nature is something Tanya has always been drawn to. From backpacking to weeding, Tanya is drawn to the quiet and natural rhythms of the outdoors and aims to bring those senses to the landscapes she designs.

Having lived in Bend since 2006, she has a deep understanding of the sometimes challenging climate of the high desert and what it takes to have a successful landscape that thrives years after installation.

When not designing Tanya enjoys hiking, backpacking, paddle boarding and working in her own garden.

Rooted in Nature

Tanya’s connection to the land began early. Her parents made sure she spent as much time as possible outside—camping, hiking, and paying attention to the details most people walk past. She still finds the most joy on local trails, especially when spring wildflowers push through rock and soil to catch the sun. Her design work is influenced by natural patterns and landscapes that offer both structure and softness.

Tanya draws inspiration from the New American Garden movement pioneered by Oehme, van Sweden & Associates, where ornamental grasses and layered perennials reflect wild, living beauty. One of her favorite cultivated spaces is the Portland Japanese Garden, a place she visits often for its calm and quiet rhythm.

Become a Client for Life

Tanya approaches each project as the beginning of an ongoing relationship. She stays connected with her clients long after the design is complete, offering guidance and answering questions as their landscapes continue to evolve. For her, design is not a one-time service. It is part of a lasting collaboration.

Every design begins with listening. She studies the site’s strengths, challenges, and microclimate to create plans that feel natural and grounded in place. Her love of functional, beautiful landscapes shows in the care she brings to every detail.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you offer installation services?

No. Tanya focuses entirely on landscape design. She partners with clients to develop detailed plans, and is happy to recommend local installers or collaborate with your chosen contractor during implementation.

What areas do you work in?

Tanya is based in Bend, Oregon and works with clients throughout Central Oregon. If you live outside that area, reach out to discuss remote design options.

What can I expect from the design process?

The process starts with a site visit and a conversation followed by the design contract. Once the contract is signed and down payment is received, we begin with the first conceptual draft of the plan to ensure the plan is headed in the right direction. This is followed by more versions of the plan and visuals until you are completely satisfied wherein I refer you to my preferred landscape contractors for you to hire to install the project.

Can you work with native or low-water plants?

Yes. Tanya often incorporates native, drought-tolerant, and pollinator-friendly plants that thrive in Central Oregon’s climate. The goal is always to create a landscape that is both beautiful and ecologically thoughtful.

Do you provide ongoing support after the design is complete?

Yes. Tanya stays in touch and is available to answer questions as your landscape takes shape. Many clients reach out later for updates, new phases, or advice on changes as their space evolves.

TESTimonials

Kind Words from Past Clients

"Knowing very little about native plants of the region, and wanting to replace the grass, with which our house came, with a native plant landscape, we turned to Tanya. She knows a ton about not only the plants, but also which ones turn which colours at what times of year, and was able to keep to low maintenance plants, as we are not really gardeners. All in all, very pleased with the outcome!"

Jillian Taylor

"Tanya is wonderful to work with. She was very accommodating with my schedule. She asks lots of questions and gathers a lot of information. She made me feel like she cared about my vision and had a driving desire to get the design right for me. Tanya is very easy to work with as well. In my first design there were a couple of flowers and trees I didn't like. She wasn't resistant at all when I told her. She took them out of the design and found others that suited my taste much better. Thank you so much for your excellent work."
